The herb Terminalia Arjuna or Arjuna Myrobalan has many other names by which it is recognized, Koha, Kahu, Arjan, White Marudha, Yerra Maddi, Sadary are to name a few. This herb is from Plantae kingdom of Magnoliophyta division. It is a large deciduous tree which can reach a height of 85 feet and has a typically shaped fruit which is between 2.5-3.5 centimeters in length. The bark of this tree is rich source of calcium salt, magnesium salt and other glycosides. The bark of the tree and fruits are used for various medicinal purposes.
Terminalia Arjuna is alterative, astringent, cardiac stimulant, hemostatic, rejuvenating tonic and lithontriptic. It can pacify Kapha and Pitta out of three humors of human body according to Ayurveda. It has anti-dysenteric properties and is febrifugal. It works very well for cardio-vascular system, respiratory system, urinary system and skin care. It is used as alternate medicine for hypertension and irregular heart beats.
Terminalia Arjuna herb is used as cardio tonic as it has many beneficial effects which are extremely good for protecting one's heart as well as to cure the problems affecting its health. It nourishes and strengthens heart's muscles and cures problems of irregular beats, normalizes disturbed rhythm of heart and slows down high rate of beats. It reduces clotting tendency of blood and reverses the process which cause stiffening of blood vessels.
As explained in Ayurveda, Arjuna Myrobalan is capable of pacifying vitiated Kapha in the body and it works as adjuvant for tubular cough and it is very beneficial in curing internal ulcers and bleeding wounds.

Its properties to slow down heart rate and stabilize heart beats treats problems related to hypertension like giddiness, insomnia, lassitude, occipital headache and poor concentration.
Terminalia Arjuna herb affects the levels of blood lipids and cholesterol in the blood and helps in controlling them. It enhances turnover cycle of LDL in liver and suppresses cholesterol biosynthesis in the liver. Its hypolipidemic effects reduce quantity of lipids in the blood.
