Melanin is responsible for our skin and hair color. Different types of melanin are found in hairs and skin to provide a predominant look to these parts of human body. The three different types of melanin and their ratio produce the color of hair in a person. The range of colors melanin can produce is limited to shades of yellow, red, brown and black. Take 1/4 cup of honey and mix it with one-third cup of hair conditioner, mix them together and apply on the hair. Cover the head with a plastic bag and sit in the sun for at least few hours. Take 2-6 teaspoons of cinnamon depending on the size of hair. Wash hair with plain water and wipe them with towel, comb them, make sure hairs are still wet. Apply conditioner and then cinnamon, rub cinnamon well on the hairs and cover the head for at least 6 hours with plastic bag. For better results one can allow it to stay overnight, this is one of the useful home remedies to lighten hair.

One of the easiest home remedies to lighten hair is provided by the combination of sunlight and lemon juice. Mix a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice to a gallon of water, rinse hair well with this mixture. Later cover the body with towel and lie upside down in the sun exposing hairs to the sun completely for 20 minutes, repeat this regularly till one achieves the desired shade. This works as one of the easiest and effective home remedies to lighten hair.



Take chamomile flowers and boil them with a liter of water for at least 20 minutes. Strain the mixture and use the water to rinse hairs 6-7 times in a day after cooling it. Allow the mixture to dry on its own in open air and repeat the rinse for 6-7 times in a day to get desired shade. This is one of the oldest home remedies to lighten hair.

One can also use lemon juice with hair conditioner, it also works as one of the effective home remedies to lighten hair. Mix a teaspoon of lemon juice with hair conditioner and mix them well. Use a comb to apply the mixture to hairs and sit in the sunlight for 20 minutes. Wash the hair later with water, lemon juice works magically to lighten hair.

Black tea also provides easy and one of the simplest home remedies to lighten hair. Prepare a cup of black tea with normal strength, before using this remedy it is advisable that one should try it on few strands to check if it not darkening the shade of the color of hairs. Black tea is also used for darkening hairs but can lighten hair if color of hair is one or two shades darker than normal. If it suits then it works as one of the effective home remedies to lighten hair.

Go out in the sun often, this is another simple and one of the effective home remedies to lighten hair. Sunrays can act as natural bleach for hairs. Cover the exposed parts of the skin and use sunscreen lotions to prevent side effects on the skin of too much exposure to the sun but allow the hairs to absorb maximum sunlight. This can lighten hair by couple of shades in few days. Swimming in swimming pools is another way to lighten hair easily. Chlorine present in the water works as bleaching agent to lighten the shade of color of hairs without much fuss and ease.

Using henna powder and making a paste to be used as hair pack every week is also one of the oldest remedy to lighten hair. Henna is considered very beneficial for hair health hence use of this remedy provides double benefits. It has been used since old times by Asian women to improve hair health and lighten hair.

Cut 1/4 cup of rhubarb in small pieces and add it to two cups of boiling water. Allow this mixture to cool down, strain the mixture and rinse hairs with the remaining water. Allow hairs to dry in open air. Rhubarb is an efficient aid to lighten hair and has been used by thousands of people for beneficial results.

Consumption of lemon juice, orange juice is very beneficial diet for lightening color of hair. Any type of citrus fruit is beneficial diet to lighten hair.
