Take a teaspoon of mustard oil, add a pinch of turmeric powder and salt to it. Take asafetida in sufficient quantity and mix it with lemon juice, heat the mixture slightly and dip a cotton ball in the mixture and apply it to the affected tooth. Chew a small piece of onion for few minutes, chew it well and swish the juice around the mouth. This helps the body in curing the infection and also prevents problem from aggravating. Cut a piece of raw potato and keep the slice on the affected tooth, keep the potato for at least 15 minutes to cure the pain. Chewing some leaves of guava also provide effective relief from toothache. Application of ice on the affected tooth and rotating it in the mouth relieves the pain and swelling to provide some relief from the problem. Take some bayberry powder and add apple cider vinegar to form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected tooth to cure the pain. Dip a teabag in hot water and take it out in 2-3 minutes, apply it on the affected tooth for immediate relief from the pain. Rinsing mouth with saline water by mixing two teaspoons of salt in a glass of warm water is another very useful and easy treatment to prevent infections and toothache.

Avoid sugary products and acidic foods as these corrode the enamel which exposes the nerves to cause toothache. Use straw while drinking cola and beverages to avoid them from coming in contact with teeth. Do not chew hard food and consume soft and easy to chew food items as excess strain on infected gums can aggravate the problem. Brush teeth regularly at least twice in a day and floss after meals to remove unwanted material from the spaces between teeth.
