Home Remedies for Eye Stye, Natural Remedy



Stye or sty on the eye are more or less harmless but certainly does not look good and make a person feel embarrassed in a company, apart from these if proper care and treatment is not take these reoccur quite frequently, home remedies for eye stye are safe and effective ways to cure the problem. Eye stye is formed either due to infection of apocrine sweat glands of the Moll, due to infection of sebaceous glands at the base of eyelashes or infection of sebaceous glands forming internal lining of the eyelid. Eye styes are of two types internal and external, external eye stye appear as small red bumps located outside of the eyelids whereas internal eye stye cause red bump on the inner side of the eyelid and causes generalized redness in the eye along with swelling. Eye styes are caused by bacterial infection caused by staphylococcus aureus or due to blocking of sweat or sebaceous glands situated inside lining of the eyelids or at the base of eyelashes. It is quite prevalent in infants and young children but can happen to people of all ages. Poor nutrition, rubbing of eyes, sleep deprivation, lack of hygiene, sharing of clothes and face towels are other common causes of eye styes. Usually styes cure on their own between 7-10 days and do not cause any damage to the eyes. Sometimes doctors lance the bump to speed up the healing process. In case a stye burst proper care and treatment shall be taken.

Home remedies for eye stye provide effective and sure cure to the problem. Lump on the top or bottom of the eyelid or localized swelling without any bump are symptoms of eye stye. Localized pain, redness, tenderness, burning in the eye and crusting of the eyelid margin are other symptoms which may accompany the lump formation. Difficulty or irritation while blinking, sensation of a foreign body in the eye, mucous discharge, tearing, blurred vision and light sensitivity are other symptoms which may also occur along with lump caused by eye styes. Take one teaspoon of coriander seeds and boil them in a cup of water. Later allow it to cool down and strain the mixture to remove the seeds. Use the remaining water as eye wash, this works as one of the wonderful home remedies for eye stye. Repeat this remedy three four times in a day for curing the problem in a short time.

Take two teabags and soak them in a cup of water. Later put these teabags over closed eyes and relax for 15-20 minutes. Repeat this remedy few times in a day to cure the problem. This is one of the effective and simple home remedies for eye stye.

Take handful of acacia leaves and boil them in two cups of water. Let the mixture boil for few minutes and later strain the mixture to remove the leaves and let it cool down. Once the water is bearably warm soak a small towel in the water and cover eyes to give warm compresses. One can take this remedy before going to bed and in the morning to cure the problem of eye styes. This is one of the oldest home remedies for eye styes.



Add two teaspoons of turmeric powder to a glass of water and put the mixture for boiling. Let it boil till mixture is reduced to half. Take piece of fine cotton cloth and strain the mixture, strain it few times so that all the turmeric powder granules are removed from the water. Use the remaining water as eye drops for curing the problem of eye styes. Put few drops of this water in both the eyes few times in a day.

Take 8 or 10 guava leaves and soak a towel in boiling water. Take the cloth out and wrap the guava leaves in the towel and leave it for few minutes. Take two leaves out of the towel gently press the leaves on closed eyes for few minutes. Once leaves cool down, take another couple of leaves out and repeat the process. Repeat this treatment two three times in a day to cure the problem. This is too one of the oldest home remedies for eye stye.

Take a raw egg and remove the white part. Spread the white part on a piece of cloth and cover the eyes for few minutes. Repeat this remedy at least three times in a day to cure the problem. This is one of the simplest home remedies for eye stye. Poultices of grated potatoes also provide relief and cure the problem of eye styes effectively.

Touch of gold can also cure the eye stye lump formed due to infection of bacteria or blocking of glands. Rub a ring or any other gold ornament on the lump with gentle pressure for one to two minutes. This also cures the lump in a short time and works as one of the easiest home remedies for eye stye. Applying pulp of aloe vera leaf on the eyes also works as effective treatment to cure the problem and is easy and simple to use.

Never try to squeeze or burst the eye stye, any infection caused to the open eye stye can aggravate the problem and can cast severe damage to the eyes. Eye styes are almost harmless until they do not get infected and cure on their own within 10 days mostly. Look for personal hygiene and do not share face towels and napkins with others. Keep eyes clean and wash the eyes regularly few times in a day with normal water and particularly after coming from outside. Use good quality cosmetics and do not forget to remove all the cosmetics before going to sleep in the night. These precautions work as useful home remedies for eye stye and its prevention. Avoid sugary and starchy food if suffering with eye styes. Avoid wearing contact lenses when having eye styes.
